Loaf tin
Loaf tins are rectangular tins that can be used to bake both bread and cakes!
Loaf tins are used in baking cakes and bread. They are usually made out of metal and coated in a non-stick coating but you can also find them made from silicone. Loaf tins come in many different lengths, width and height. They are rectangular in shape and some have handles
Some popular cakes made in loaf tins are banana bread, carrot cake, lemon cake and even Christmas cake!
Lining a loaf tin
To line a loaf tin you have two options, either you buy pre-shaped loaf tin liners or you can line it with baking parchment.
To line a loaf tin using baking parchment:
- Take a sheet of baking parchment and lay it flat.
- Place your loaf tin in the centre and with a pencil mark each corner of the loaf tin on the parchment. Use these markers to draw a square on each corner of the baking parchment.
- Take a pair of scissors and cut out the squares so your baking parchment looks like a cross.
- You can now fit the baking parchment into the loaf tin easily.
