Recall of Baronet, Baby Baronet and Mini Baronet Soft Cheese, Pennard Red due to possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes (Update)

The Food Standards Agency has posted on its site a recall notice by The Old Cheese Room about Baronet, Baby Baronet and Mini Baronet Soft Cheese. The problem is about the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Update March 21, 2023: The Food Standards Agency has updated the recall notice by extending the products affected by the recall to new Best Before dates. Below you will find the updated list.

Update April 04, 2023: A new food recall alert has been issued by the Food Standards Agency about the risk of a listeria contamination of the cheese. The new recall is about the Pennard Red Goats Cheese made by Somerset Cheese Company. You’ll find all the product details in the list below, and the batch code and best before date can be found on the back of the whole wheels.

If you have bought the Pennard Red Goats Cheese, Baronet, Baby Baronet and Mini Baronet Soft Cheese check the Best before date: if it coincides with the recalled product, do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. The Best before date can be found on the back label of the product.
