Garam masala
Garam masala is an Indian spice mix that can be found in both powdered and paste form.
Garam masala is a blend of ground spices that originates from India, it is widely used as a seasoning in curry. It’s most commonly found in powdered form but it can also be sold as a paste. Garam masala can be used on its own, or it can be mixed with other sices, depending on the recipe.
There is not an exact recipe for garam masala, It completely depends on the region or personal taste preference. Common ingredients are black pepper and white pepper, cloves, cinnamon, mace, black and green cardamom pods, bay leaf, cumin and coriander seeds. Some traditional recipes of garam masala more than 30 ingredients!
Making garam masala is easy, simply select the spices according to your taste and toast all together in a pan, then blend them together in a spice grinder. To make garam masala paste you can add coconut milk, vinegar, or a bit of water to bring the mixture together.
The result is a flavourful, fresh garam masala you can use to season chicken and vegetables with!
