Cling film
Cling film is a transparent plastic that is used to preserve the freshness of food.
Cling film is a type of plastic commonly used for sealing food to maintain freshness. It is also called plastic wrap, shrink wrap, Saran wrap, cling wrap or food wrap.
Clingfilm is made of a plastic called PVC, this plastic wraps around food creating a seal. It simultaneously keeps moisture in and out. As the name suggests one of the main features of cling film is that it really clings to items, making it perfect for wrapping around bows of food you want to store in the fridge. Cling film is sold in rolls that come in boxes. Once opened the box acts as a dispenser. It usually comes with a cutter for ease of use.
If you want to use it as a cover in the oven or the microwave it is best to check the packaging first.
