Muffin trays are used in baking muffins and cupcakes
Muffin tins are trays specially designed to cook muffins and cupcakes, they work by keeping them in shape as they cook. They have little cups in the tray, they come in lots of different sizes with varying numbers of cups. They usually come with 12 but you can find tins with 6, 8, 11, 24, or even 35 cups (for industrial baking)
Muffin tins can come in a range of different materials, most common are aluminium, stainless steel, cast iron, or silicone. Aluminium and stainless steel muffin tins can come coated with a non-stick coating.
Other Uses
In recent years people have been getting creative in the kitchen and the humble muffin try is no longer just used for baking sweet things! Muffin tins are great for cooking eggs, they can be baked, you can make mini breakfast omelettes, quiches and frittatas!
