Garam masala is a blend of ground spices that originates from India, it is widely used as a seasoning in curry. It’s most commonly found in powdered form but it can also be sold as a paste. Garam masala can be used on its own, or it can be mixed with other sices, depending on the recipe.
There is not an exact recipe for garam masala, It completely depends on the region or personal taste preference. Common ingredients are black pepper and white pepper, cloves, cinnamon, mace, black and green cardamom pods, bay leaf, cumin and coriander seeds. Making garam masala is easy, simply select the spices according to your taste and toast all together in a pan, then blend them together in a spice grinder. To make garam masala paste you can add coconut milk, vinegar, or a bit of water to bring the mixture together.
