Orange blossom water
The orange blossom water is fragrant and delicate, and only a small dose is enough to flavor cakes and sweets immediately.
Orange blossom water is a very intense essence, a few drops are able to flavor creams, cakes and desserts like the famous Neapolitan pastiera. In fact, this aroma is the product of the distillation of orange blossom and is obtained through a natural process, in fact it is possible to do it at home or buy it: it is found in bottles or jars in all supermarkets and that’s enough a minimum dose to perfume whole sweets.
Homemade orange blossom water
Making orange blossom water at home is very simple: just get orange flowers (usually flowering takes place in late spring, between April and May) and boil them with brown sugar after letting them soak in baking soda. Obviously it is not a concentrate like industrial ones, therefore a more important dose will be necessary to obtain the same aromatic effect.
