Pizza dough is really easy! It can be made in about 10 minutes at home or you can buy it pre-made from larger supermarkets.
Pizza dough usually contains only a few ingredients – flour, yeast, water and a bit of olive oil.
Other uses for pizza dough
- Focaccia – An oven-baked Italian bread. Focaccia is flat and square with dimples on the surface. It is usually thicker than pizza and it is commonly flavoured with herbs or topped with olives, cheese or onions.
- Zeppoles – Are deep fried Italian doughnuts covered with sugar. They are super simple and completely addictive. They are either coated with powdered, granulated or cinnamon sugar.
- Dough balls – They are easy as pie to make, simply form your pizza dough into small evenly sized balls and bake at 200˚C for 8 minutes or until golden brown. They are great little starter served with some garlic butter or a dipping sauce of your choosing!
- Panzerotti/Pizza fritta – Is a deep fried folded pizza, filled with tomato sauce, molten cheese and other fillings. It resembles a calzone but smaller. Leave to cool for a few minutes before eating as the fillings can be extremely hot!
