Chocolate mousse is one of those timeless recipes that is so easy literally anyone can make! You will need 3 ingredients: good quality dark chocolate, egg whites, golden caster sugar.
They fulfil all the criteria for a perfect dinner party dessert, they look amazing, they taste even better and you can make them before your guests arrive minimising your time in the kitchen!
Simply add cooled melted chocolate and sugar to whipped egg and leave to set for 2-3 hours for a light and ret rich pudding!
We recommend using between 70% – 80% dark chocolate for the best results.
Boil water in a small saucepan and put a metal or glass bowl on top. Making sure the water does not touch the bowl. Add chocolate in pieces to the bowl and melt most of the chocolate.
Whisk the egg whites to soft peaks, slowly add the sugar and whisk until they form stiff peaks
Add a large tablespoon of the egg white to the melted chocolate stirring quickly.
Gently fold in the rest of the egg whites with a spatula.
Spoon into small ramekins and set in the fridge.
Grate the rest of the chocolate, sprinkle on top and serve.
